When she turned 18, she and a friend moved to Florida to pursue modeling careers. Vitale found work right away posing for Oldsmobile and was a finalist in the Miss Florida-World contest. Vitale was working at the Playboy Club in Miami Beach at the time of her Playboy photo session. Her pictorial was titled "Beach Blonde". Carol Vitale died on July 23, 2008 at her condo in Aventura, Florida as a result of complications from lupus, scleroderma, and osteoporosis, from which she had been suffering in recent years.
